Just thought I would let you all know that the new Sam Raimi film "Drag Me To Hell" is an absolute gem. Very EC comics (more Evil Dead 2 than Evil Dead 1) and the most fun I've had for 100 minutes non-stop in a long time. Very highly recommended.

I concur with that. Excellent movie.

Very EC, but also with a generous helping of "Casting the Runes" and, I thought, a nod to "Oh, Whistle and I'll Come to you, my lad" in the face in the lace handkerchief.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed with this. I think Raimi should have dropped the comical gore elements and just gone with the frighteners! It could have been a modern day "Night of the Demon!"

Hated it!!
Right to the abominable stupid "twist" ending, which didn´t even qualify as a cliche any longer. It´s just ... blah!

Turned it off half way through. T'was rubbish. Rubbish, cliched, hokum - that's what I liked. mind you I'm fairly easily pleased.

Enjoyed it enormously - very hard to do comedy-horror without it turning into spoof-horror, and nobody does it better than Raimi (though Evil Dead 3 was awful). See John Landis' Burke & Hare for a more recent example of how not to do it.

Yep I enjoyed it too. Found myself laughing a bit through it, which added to the enjoyment. Not everyone likes humor served up with their horror but I don't mind.
