Another rehash from Vault MK. 1 but we never followed this up.

I don't have ready access to the bulk of my pulp/trash collection, where any as yet unlisted here obscurities are likely to be, but I have run across a novel that I plucked from among the horror section of a bookshop many years ago.
The Second Coming by Antony Lopez (22641, April 1975). It's an odd one, for sure. The spine declares to be Fiction, but I would say it's well over on the horror side of sci-fi/horror. It's definitely not straight sci-fi, or I'd never had bought it. The blurb runs thusly:
The rumour was quickly spreading throughout the country - Second Messiah was coming. His disciples were everywhere already, preaching, converting, baptising. There were even members within the broadcasting stations, for messages flashed continuously on the screen: THE END IS NOW - RENOUNCE THE FLESH, interspersed with news that America was crumbling under the onslaught of earthquakes and floods. The apocalypse was nigh.
Only Sonny and a handful of others refused to join the general movement. They resisted the new era, only to learn that the new methods of persuasion were little different from the old - the firing squad, the cosh, and subliminal brainwashing. Under such conditions, even Sonny's resistance was weakening, and it seemed the new order, which denied the freedom and the flesh, would prevail.
NEL published so much stuff during the 70s and 80s, there must be plenty more titles lurking about, waiting to be rediscovered.
Typing 'Anthony Lopez - The Second Coming' into the search engine only turns up a trillion posts about a certain big-bummed pop diva which would be welcome in every other circumstances but this one. Any info?
