A very sad news day indeed. From the Fantasy Centre's newsletter: There's really not a lot to say this time. Ted and I have decided that once our lease expires in June, we shall not renew it and the Fantasy Centre will close down after nearly 40 years of trading. We would like to thank all of our regular customers for their support over this long time, and will say a little more, in our last catalogue.Well, this had been coming for some time, bu it's still a shock, and I for one will miss going down to see Ted and Eric and finding some great buys. Sad day indeed , and another nail in the coffin for finding books that you would otherwise not have known anything about.

I knew this was coming but it's still sad. My reasons for coming to London used to be the Fantasy Centre and Murder One when it had New Worlds. Very sad.

Horrible blow although i think we all knew it was coming. Like to many of you, i've misspent several happy hours in FC down the years, usually terminating in a visit to the Lord Nelson across the street to gaze in wonderment at all the beautiful, worthless trash i'd just bought, the like of which now changes hands for obscene sums on abebooks. The place was a London landmark. it's gonna be a very sad occasion, paying a last pilgrimage to the shrine because there really is nowhere else like it in London for fans of this stuff. Well done to Ted, Eric - and Dave Gibson before him - for building it up and keeping it going for four decades!

Unless I can find anyone daft enough to put me up for the night, I won't be going to the BFS thingy as I wouldn't get back to Ipswich till near midnight. But hell yeah - let's give the FC the sendoff it deserves!
