I stupidly got rid of an anthology some time back (can't remember the title), but one story paticularly struck me. I may be wrong, but I think it was by Oliver Onions, about some ghosts who were just as frightened of humans, as the humans were of them. I think they were holding some kind of meeting about what to do.
I also seem to remember there being illustrations in the book & if I've not confused it with another anthology, I think it had a large skull illustration on the front, in black & orange.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Now there's a coincidence! We've just been discussing W W Jacobs' The Monkey's Paw and if i'm not very much mistaken the book you're after is Haunting Ghost Stories! The Onion's story sees Sir Edward the Dauntless prove his courage by manifesting himself before a terrifying human. It was originally published as one of Two Trifles in Cynthia Asquith's The Ghost Book, its companion being The Ether-Hogs (from memory, ghosts launch a campaign versus man's obsession with the radio, as the continual broadcasts are disturbing their peace?). Chetwynd-Hayes later included Two Trifles in Fontana Great Ghost Stories#10

I'm trying to find the name of a paperback book of ghost stories that I read when I was in 8th grade. One of the stories dealt with a family that had the tradition of a woman's ghost who would appear everytime someone in the family died.I remember that at the end of the story the woman's ghost emerges from a closet and alerts someone that their brother a flyer in ww1 has just been killed.Another story that I remember dealt with a family that moves into a very old house and begin to hear the moans and cries of a very small child.Eventually the skeleton of an infant is found buried in a wall in the house. If anybody has any idea of what this book is called please let me know.Thank's, Mike K.
