I'll mention it to Dark Regions all the same.
I won't be at the World Horror Con, unfortunately, due to domestic and financial reasons.
Will definitely need to get my act together for attending next year, since "They That Dwell...", "The Impossible Casebook of Sherlock Holmes" and "Wraithvale" should all be out by then.

Certainly... "The Impossible Casebook of Sherlock Holmes" is a collection of hitherto unpublished accounts by Dr Watson, in which he and Holmes find themselves involved in cases where the solutions may very well point to the involvement of the supernatural - cases which Holmes then insisted Watson keep from publication as they might seriously compromise his reputation as a pursuer of the purely rational science of detection. It's something Dark Regions asked me if I'd be interested in doing after I revealed my love of the characters of Holmes and Watson in my story notes for "They That Dwell..." There'll be more details on the Dark Regions site in October or November, but for a preview of the type of story I've gone for, my (condensed) radio adaptation of one of them, "The Voice in the Smoke", will be on Imagination Theater this Sunday in the USA (and online on the LISTEN NOW at the IT site from Monday the 5th of October for 2 weeks). jimfrenchproductions.com/zc137m/index.php?main_page=page&id=6&chapter=0&zenid=hur5n3k7uvf5d4fj4r35ujcvf2

Thanks for that, Ben.
To be honest with you, I have similar feelings concerning Holmes pastiches, particularly when the supernatural is brought into play, and I wasn't sure if attempting such a book might not be a poisoned chalice. well, it might still be, and I might well end up pissing off a million Sherlockians (mind you, if a million Sherlockians buy the book to find out... result) but I set myself the goal that the stories have to work as Holmes stories, and fit into the established chronology of Holmes adventures, as well as supernatural stories.
The research for it has been utterly painless - re-read the Conan Doyle originals and watch loads of classic DVDs? I do that every couple of years anyway, and I always find some new level, be it humourous or deal serious, each time i do. He was a superb writer of characters and relationships, far more than he was a writer of crime stories. M.R. James was a huge fan, and I think it shows in some of the more character-based moments in his own stories.

agreed, regarding his supernatural rather than crime tales, I picked up the wordsworth edition earlier in the year (Tales of Unease) and it's great stuff.

I've now received copies of the Deluxe and hardback editions, the first time I'd seen the embossed cover design for the leather binding, and I'm totally taken with the fact that they look like genuine old ghost story collections - something I was keen to emulate. Pictures of the designs have been added here - www.darkregions.com/they_that_dwell_in_dark_places.htmlI've already received paperback copies (featuring the Dr. Lawrence cover), and I'll post again when the paperback becomes available. For now, those who pre-ordered the hardback should be receiving it soon, I hope.

being a total cheapskate, it will be the paperback version for me, lurks, so be sure to keep us informed. For those who fancy a taster, hit the Dark Regions link above and you'll find a freebie download of Dan's The Mound, as premiered (?) in Filthy Creations #3

I'll put up an individual post about "The Impossible Casebook of Sherlock Holmes" when it is officially announced by Dark Regions, but here, as a little taster, cover artist Wayne Miller has put his rather splendid cover painting up on his site; www.mwaynemiller.com/NW%2017.HTML
