I've just read Pan 27 and I reckon it has the highest number, and greatest proportion, of stories on the theme of cannibalism, to wit: four out of twelve. (Three are crap, though Pebbledene by Alan Temperley grips throughout, and I was all the more disappointed by the hackneyed ending.) Can anyone find an entry in the series that beats this one's 33% human autophagy rate?
(I should add that I've nothing against this practice's portrayal in fiction; Pan 2 contains two of the finest horror stories ever penned, both of which feature it. But they're superb stories in their own right, and don't rely on the chowing-down as a gimmick.)
