How does it operate? Check out this trailer for the new film, The Sixth Reel, for some hints; it's about the discovery of the sixth reel of the long-lost 1920s Lon Chaney film, London After Midnight (a film some people are obsessed with in a truly bizarre fashion) amongst the effects of a lately deceased collector. The film is fiction but I believe much of what is shown reflects reality. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Qh9s8tlbV4H. This looks terrible. But how powerful are the secret Doctor Who black market collectors if they can intercept an episode from Nigeria? They are like pulp criminal masterminds. I read they have a least six hidden away. But maybe it's just rumours, because how would we know? Could they actually be powerful figures in real life? Leading double lives? It's all very strange. If I remember rightly the episode had been found in Nigeria (possibly the complete story had been sent over to a TV station to drum up interest in buying transmission rights to the show in general), but the chap who found it was rather noisy on Twitter and such places about it, and so someone stole the tape from him as he was in the process of bringing it back to the UK. Rumours of other lost episodes still intact around the world bob about the fandom, but they are hard to track down as tend to be in vaults, attics, garages etc and their owners aren't necessarily aware of them, or if they are they sometimes quite like to keep hold of them for the rarity/value.

It is indeed absolutely terrifying May I ask how old you are? Fifty-nine in two weeks' time. And not easily frightened!
