No, seriously, I misread it. I've no idea why Wilson would have changed his mind about the guy's writing. It's too late! Not talking to you.

Did they ever discover a lost film or TV show that was thought to be a classic, and discover it was actually rubbish? A lot of BBC shows from the 1960s and 1970s are lost. It's a pity as they should swap with today's reality shows. it would be nice if they lost most of these. I just discovered from looking for missing TV shows, and this is amazing, that there is a black market in missing Doctor Who episodes! Apparently The Web of Fear episode two was stolen in transit from Nigeria. It's all very bizarre. I have no idea what the Web of Fear is, but it involves Yetis in the London Underground, which isn't like an alligator, I can't imagine you can flush a Yeti down a loo. Fandom is so odd. They keep things all to themselves, but it seems pointless, as who can you boast to? Jojo, do you have it? I don't know how a secret Doctor Who black market operates. How would you possibly join it? Would you need to network at conventions and forums? Perhaps there is a secret black market pulp horror network on here, and most of us are unaware. If I was to hazard a guess on who operates it, well, I can think of a certain person who recently insulted me. No name mentioned, but i think you all know who I'm talking about.

When Middoth mentioned Colin Wilson I watched most of an interview. And Wilson said when he was young he thought Henry James was one of the great English novelists. But he later changed his mind. Do you understand why he might have thought this? Because he was American? Sorry, misread it. This is the second worst thing that has been said to me on here. I've the vapours and need to swoon.

How does it operate? Check out this trailer for the new film, The Sixth Reel, for some hints; it's about the discovery of the sixth reel of the long-lost 1920s Lon Chaney film, London After Midnight (a film some people are obsessed with in a truly bizarre fashion) amongst the effects of a lately deceased collector. The film is fiction but I believe much of what is shown reflects reality. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Qh9s8tlbV4H.

I thought this plot died in the first decade of the 2000s with Flicker and Carpenter's disappointing Cigarette Burns.

But how powerful are the secret Doctor Who black market collectors if they can intercept an episode from Nigeria? They are like pulp criminal masterminds. I read they have a least six hidden away. But maybe it's just rumours, because how would we know? Could they actually be powerful figures in real life? Leading double lives? It's all very strange.

He just changed his mind. He had a right. At his age, he didn't have to pretend he loved the classics.

The Fatal Night isn't lost - Mario Zampi's film was screened by Jonathan Rigby at a BFI event in April 2019. It is indeed absolutely terrifying, and surprisingly modern. One of the great horror movies of the 1940s. Hopefully if the BFI keep releasing their 'Short Sharp Shocks' collections, this fifty minute classic will surface for wider viewing.
