Anyone remember the excellent Pieces of Mary that managed to bring some of the biggest horror writers of the time to the smaller than small press?
I'm chatting with its editor Gareth James with an aim to reproduce all of the issues he made in a stand alone website or maybe even as an arm to the allthingshorror website. This would hopefully include all original letters, press releases etc that he had with all of the authors and anything and everything else that Gareth can find.
And Kev, he knows about your reproduction of the Paget interview and is quite happy that more than one person remembers the magazine!
Interview with Gareth will appear on the website soon.

Hate when that happens 'cause it always sends me scurrying off to the thread to see what garbage I came out with and if I slagged the mag/ book/ person off. Here we are: Pieces of Mary/ Clarence Paget Could be worse. Pieces ... left a lasting impression on quite a few of us!

The Best Pieces of Mary will be released next spring - containing all interviews from the issues that were published, new interviews and essays and some new short stories (you really have to watch this space...) and an essay from Gareth talking about making the magazine back then in the dark ages and other stuff that truly gives a snapshot of the decade. A website will also be up - with complete front to back scans of all issues. It will be paperbacked size and good quality and its price will be low - unfortunately it will not be sold at the original price of 50p... If it sells more than 2 copies, Pieces of Mary may come out as a bi-annual affair - and done on a photocopier.... Wish us luck! Gareth and Johnny. (oh and a interview with Gareth should be up on the allthingshorror website on friday night) - i'll shut up now, sorry Kev! Oh - and before I forget - fan reminices will have their own page - so pm me your thoughts on Mary if you ever read it!

Very much looking forward to it already Johnny and Gareth!
And even if you do only sell 2 copies of the book (which I'm sure won't be the case) I would still love to see a regular fanzine from the two of you. Much as I love Dem and his new-fangled web-wizardy, there's still plenty of room for a photo-copied zine in our hearts and hands! (Hopefully you will censor Gareth's rants against some of our favourite When Animals Attacks auteurs)

interview is up: www.allthingshorror.co.uk/#/garethjamespom/4532293146Cheers Justin! Yes, I'm wrestling with all the old zines and letters etc, etc and slowly putting it together. Contacting all the names again - Stephen Laws said he is interested, Shaun has pledged to help where ever he can. Once it comes out - hopefully in the Spring - it will just be time to have a sit and see what would be the best course for cranking Pieces up again....

"The time could be right for a ‘best of’ who knows, but it would need a careful re-vamp and a decent photocopier this time round!" Well, if Gareth's really intent on going the photocopy route, there are several free programs to try out which at least saves all that running to the newsagent with a bundle of sleazy pages. Best of all, you've got control over the *ahem* production values rather than leaving it to the mercy of some fiend who never changes his ink cartridge. Maybe he could experiment with Photocopier for example. When I had a printer, I used an early version and even that did the trick.

Magazine is ticking along nicely - Introduction written by Shaun Hutson - new story by Harry E Turner and one other, couple of nice interviews lined up too. Then some of the best of bits from the old zines - and James Herbert wrote to me today saying he'll do an interview for Pieces at a later date when he's finished his book!
HUZZA!!!!!!
