I'm not about to shell out a tenner for this, so I'd just like to ask, has anyone read it and what's it like? Didn't realise this was so recent (1997). Remember reading somewhere that Guy was always disappointed he never got commissioned to write any Westerns during the boom of the 70s and 80s, as he knew a lot about period details, guns etc. It does seem odd - he was mates with Laurence James, wasn't he? You'd have thought LJ could have slung him a couple of titles to work on. Presumably the success of his horror titles meant he was too busy? I'm sure someone on here will know.
What's this like, then? Only non-horror thing I've read by him is Bamboo Guerillas (which I loved). On paper, this should be a book made in heaven for me. Does it deliver the goods?

For me, it's one of his better books. Now this could be attributed to the fact that he LOVES westerns. But it's well planned, great story and I wish it had been given a print over here.
If Guy has his way, their will be a couple more westerns in the future, too.
It works for me...I think you'll enjoy it...and I was one who disliked westerns.

Thanks for that mate...might treat myself when I get paid.
This may be an 'immature' question (hehe), but does it deliver the gore, a la early Edge etc? I'm guessing that it does...

It's Guy N Smith...what do you think? But I think you'll find it a worthy investment. Neil

I hope to release it in the UK next year with a limited run. I think some more westerns by Brit authors is not a bad thing.

I'm thinking that GNS would be tailor made for writing some weird westerns. Ala Jonah Hex/Tex Willer...etc. Westerner's mixing it up with wendigos/sasquatch/skinwalkers. Aliens/monsters/lost worlds accessed via a hogun in Monument Valley. All that good stuff. Written a couple of weird westerns myself. Haven't found a market for them yet. Will probably keep writing a few more until I have enough for a novel. I've posted a link to a weird western/gaslight fantasy/H Rider Haggard type tale here: vaultofevil.proboards75.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=filth&thread=2447

I'm going to be working with Guy on a new zombie western from an outline that he wrote some time ago.
Think Assault on Precinct 13 with cowboys and zombies...and yes, folk will meet, fall in love and do the horizontal mambo within three pages...and die...horribly.

Serves them bloody well right, the wretches. By the way, I love Assault on Precinct 13 (who doesn't?) - at least the original. Look forward to this. Sounds like a fun book. David
