Above is an illustration for A Night at the Opera by D F Lewis - hope you like it, Des - which will appear in FC5. I hope I got the new mag title right above; forgot it last time I posted. And Des's story title's been abbreviated for purposes of this post. I've been looking at some of the recent discussion with interest, and I'm sorry to see there's disagreement that's maybe got a bit heated. I think it was David Riley who once wrote in a PM to me that the Vault seemed a place without acrimony. It occurs to me that David was a noted contributor to 'seventies horror, but these days has to depend on the small press. So does Ramsey Campbell. And in a less noted way, so was I. Anyway, here's a blatant plug for FC5 (which will also have one of my stories in it - wish the smileys hadn't gone awol). There are now 4 completed drawings including Ade Salmon's lovely cover and illustration for mine.

^looking good rog. i always like the pictures from FC and they seem to have developed into a costant (in terms of style) that runs throughout.

Thanks for the kind words, people - and relieved that you like it, Des. You've had some fine illustrators for your past stories.
Long overdue (my posting of it, I mean), here's Ade Salmon's cover for the mag, featuring (blush) an illustration for my 'Sam and Angie' story. Horror at the Sagebrush Hotel. Love it, Ade!
I'm trying to track down Ade's interior illo - can't view Steve's Photobucket at the moment, and I've just learned that Steve is ill. And all my emails and most addresses were lost in the recent crappy virus war. If you want to go ahead and post it, Ade, please go ahead.

... and I've just learned that Steve is ill. Oh no! If you manage to get in touch with him, please pass on my "get well soon" message to him, Rog.

Thankyou Benedict - hope you enjoy DEATH OF GRASS. Rog I'll see if I can find the interior art scans ( I've archived them somewhere) - do you need them resending to you since Steve isn't well? Won't be around tomorrow ( and that's probably a good thing - getting mighty stuffy round here). Speak soon pal. ade

Rog I'll see if I can find the interior art scans ( I've archived them somewhere) - do you need them resending to you since Steve isn't well? ... I've just been told that I got confused over two Steves, both 'small-press-active'. (Some things never change, huh? ) So probably the FC-Steve Goodwin is actually well and eating chocolate digestives while listning to old blues records. Charles has just sent me his email address. I did find an address he sent me in October in my PMs - which is where I linked your cover from. So far I haven't found the other scan. I don't know how far along he is with the DTP work. He probably gave me up for lost after all this time. He should remember what they say about bad pennies. Hopefully we'll be getting back to normal (whatever that is) by the time you get back. When I get this FC site wossname up, another copy of the second scan will definitely be useful here. Ta.

I've just been told that I got confused over two Steves I was going to say... is there something I should know? Did my doctor send the test results to the wrong address or something? You could have broken it to me a bit more gently! Is it something serious? How long have I got? Are we talking "Don't start any books over about 120 pages"? Not that I'm likely to do that anyway...

It doesn't help that you keep changing your name, Steve! I guess you are X, aren't you? Or are you a completely different Steve? Now, I'm very confused! Anyway, I won't send you my "get well wishes" now - although if you eat too many digestives, you might need them!
