Congratulations to Shaun for having reached the preliminary ballot for this year's Horror Writers Association Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Collection with Voyeurs of Death, Doorway Publications. www.bookdepository.co.uk/WEBSITE/WWW/WEBPAGES/showbook.php?id=0615145671From what I can see, he's the only Brit to have reached this stage. The list of collections short listed after the preliminary ballot are: Proverbs for Monsters by Michael A. Arnzen (Dark Regions Press) The Imago Sequence by Laird Barron (Night Shade Books Darker Loves by James Dorr (Dark Regions Press) Needles and Sins by John Everson (Necro Publications) When it Rains and Other Wreckage by Christopher Fulbright (Doorways Publication) Voyeurs of Death by Shaun Jeffrey (Doorways Publication) No Further Messages by Brett Alexander Savory (Delirium) Sparks and Shadows by Lucy Snyder (HW Press) 5 Stories by Peter Straub (Borderlands) Defining Moments by David Niall Wilson (Sarob Press) I'm hoping Shaun gets through the next stage to the list of nominees. Sadly, although Shaun is the only Brit, it took being published in the US to get even this far. The voting is very heavily weighted in favour of the US. David

Well done, Shaun and good luck for the rest of the competition.

I've added the cover and link for Shaun Jeffery's Voyeurs of Death to the New Writings page. New Writings in Horror It goes with apologies to Shaun for somehow missing his book's addition to the New Writings thread at the old site. I only noticed it very recently. The link is over to the top right of (presently) five rows of covers. N.B. I must repair that link for Gary McMahon's All Your Gods Are Dead. The publisher moved it. Damn.

Rather than clog up the board with new messages, I thought I would update this thread with news of my latest novel, The Kult, which is being published on May 25th. If anyone is interested in winning an ARC, please check out the publishers blog: blog.leucrotapress.com/?p=432Ten winners will be chosen at random on the closing date, April 24th, but the one condition of entry is that if chosen, you promise to read the entire novel, and then write a short and honest review about what you thought of the novel, and then email it to the publisher as well as post on Amazon.com, Barnesandnobel.com, or any other review sites you enjoy. The Kult People are predictable. That's what makes them easy to kill. Acting out of misguided loyalty to his friends, police officer Prosper Snow is goaded into helping them perform a copycat killing, but when the real killer comes after him, it’s not only his life on the line, but his family's too. Now if he goes to his colleagues for help, he risks being arrested for murder. If he doesn't, he risks being killed. PRAISE FOR THE KULT “With Kult, Shaun Jeffrey hits one out of the park with this creepy, character-driven thriller that starts with a jolt, stays in the fast lane, and plunges into the darkest territory of the human mind. It’s a bumpy ride through nightmare country.” --Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of PATIENT ZERO and PUNISHER: NAKED KILL "The Kult is a creeping stalk through a shadowy labyrinth of thrills and terror. Shaun Jeffrey delivers a pulse-pounding novel of superb skill and unequivocal horror. Fans of many genres should be ready to embrace one of the brightest new talents on the scene today." --Jon F. Merz author of Parallax and the Lawson Vampire novels

Having read your collection, Voyeurs of Death, I really look forward to this novel, Shaun. Sounds tremendous. David Well it's finally available and there's an associated competition to celebrate: The killer featured in the book, The Kult taunted the police with photographs of the macabre crimes. Each photograph contained a clue for the police to work out. One of those photographs never came to light during the case, but it's presented here for all budding sleuths. Now crack the code and enter the draw to win gift certificates to the store of your choice: Amazon, The Horror Mall or Shocklines. There are three prizes, with the top prize being $100 and the closing date for entries is midnight on October 31st. Learn more: www.shaunjeffrey.com/kultcompetition.htmlPurchase the book from: www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0980033985/shaunjeffreho-20www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0980033985/ref=ase_shaunjeffreho-21/202-3440358-2866222www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780980033984/The-Kultsearch.barnesandnoble.com/The-Kult/Shaun-Jeffrey/e/9780980033984/?itm=1www.leucrotapress.com/Jeffrey.htmlAnd as a final bonus, and a thank you to anyone who buys a copy, email me to let me know where you've ordered it from, and I'll send you a free PDF of my short story collection Voyeurs of Death in return.
