anyone checked out these image comics? i'm up to about #6 of the collected editions (about 5 issues of the series in each). it follows a cop and the small group of survivors he has drawn to himself in the aftermath of a zombie rising. pretty good stuff with some really nasty bits (akthough the worst stuff is mainly inflicted by humans on other humans-like most proper zombie fiction!!!). let me know your thoughts.

^probably not =O(
-they are well worth getting and i have found the more of them you read the more you buy into the whole concept of a basically never ending zombie story!! kind of like how you want the films to be (well for me anyway...)
oh and ben is just fine thanks!!

I have a subscription to "The Walking Dead". Started around issue 12 so I bought the meaty slipcased volume of the first 12 issues and have been a regular ever since. One of my fave comics at the moment and just about to sit down and read issue #53.

^ta! i was thinking about getting the single issues now I've caught up but I actually prefer the collected versions - that trade paperback style with about half a dozen issues in them.

The difference is that the single issue comics are written as just that. With cliff hangers at the end of most issues which make it darned exciting. Having to wait a month to find out what happens is part of the attraction for me. The graphic novels tend to be printed in arcs so you are only a page turn away from finding out what happens next. Takes the fun out of it a bit imo.

^ah but they do all end with cliff hangers though and then you've got to wait months for the next volume!!!

You have to wait months for one cliffhanger. I have to wait a month each and every month for each and every cliffhanger.
It is good though as you said and Kirkland has said that the idea is played out almost in real time so it's interesting to see what happens day to day as it where.
It's been months since a zombie has even really featured.

hehe - they are shamblers in the walking dead rather than these new fangled speedy zombies!
with 'TWD' i like the fact that it is like the zombie film that never ends which means that there is a lot more dicussion of how they have to do things e.g people stil need food, toliets, medical supplies and hope...

It's definately the day to day stuff that grabs. Makes you empathise with the characters even more so it's a real kick in the nads when something happens to them.
Is this the first ever Zombie soap opera?
Another bonus of getting the monthly singles over the collected editions is the letters page. Some great discussion on the series.

^i just don't have the space for piles of comics any ore whereas the collected editions slide nicely into the booksehelf. used to have box loads of comics but had to dispose of most of them during a hectic move i only managed to really save my graphic novels and haven't bought many comics since,
