I desperately require some black and white movies. I am going crazy here. The television is simply hopeless, everything in German, not a decent movie around.
Does anyone know of a movie club online that specialises in everything before 1970?

Try www.archive.org ,it has black and white, and color, movies in the public domain. It even has quite a few old horror movies!

Does anyone know of a movie club online that specialises in everything before 1970? If you fancy watching a few old B-Movies, you could try www.invasioncinema.com/They have The Crawling Eye (AKA The Trollenberg Terror), Attack of the Giant Leeches, Mesa of Lost Women, The Giant Gila Monster and more. Or have a look at Internet Archive's Sci-Fi/Horror collectionCarnival Of Souls, The Last Man On Earth, Night Of The Living Dead, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Vampire Bat and other classics (plus some more modern trash). ( I see Stavner beat me to it with the Archive!)

Youtube is pretty good for films sometimes - not too long ago I watched the 1950's BBC version of 1984 with the Nigel Kneale script, starring Peter Cushing and Donald Pleasance. Some interesting stuff, if you don't mind rooting around for it...

Is there anyway of increasing the size of the picture on these sites?

There's a great site - while sometimes can be a bit tempremental - has the most craziest selection of films ever. filmschatten.blogspot.com/search/label/Horrorwith longer films they break them down into parts - and Ive just brought up the horror section for you - but there's so much here.... Best site Ive come across for a while Enjoy

Any site that sticks up
'From the master of terror comes a chilling tale of unspeakable evil.'
is definitely on my Christmas list.
Thanks a lot,
Craig

Is there anyway of increasing the size of the picture on these sites? Yeah. With YouTube you've got an option to view videos full screen by clicking on the icon in the bottom right hand corner. Invasion Cinema has a similar 'Maximise Video' option next to the volume control and menu (bottom right again). On Internet Archive you can opt to either watch the films as steaming video online, or download them. If you download them (could take a couple of hours depending on your connection speed and file size), you can then watch the videos on whatever media player you have on your computer (which again will give you a full screen option). Picture quality will depend on the size of the file. I've just been watching The Trollenberg Terror on Invasion Cinema with the picture 'maximised' and the quality wasn't bad, certainly watchable. I also downloaded a bit of Carnival Of Souls and watched it full screen using Quicktime Player and the quality was fine. Certainly a viable alternative to German TV, I'd say.

Thanks a lot s, and everyone else who has offered to do voluntary work for the computer senile. This is going to transform a large part of my bleak existence. I'm weighing up metropolis or carnival of souls right now or night of the living dead...argh too much choice
