Ok. Let the lynching begin. AAaaaarrggghhhhh......!!! No lynch mob. If the place was already crammed, don't see as how you had much alternative. Actually, would prefer if all C. Shops hung a sign 'We don't need books until further notice. They'll only be pulped if you donate them' when space is at a premium. At least everyone would know where they stood. James & Andy. Thanks ever so for the Darke info. Still can't fathom why I never picked up a copy. Must have seen them every day on way to work!

John Sinclair by Jason Dark is a weekly pulp horror heftroman series which is still going at the moment. Currently with 1976 novella-length novels, most of them were written by only one writer, Helmut Rellergerd (71). He still writes some of them, but now they employ other writers too. the That's an impressive series - in Australia the only comparable thing are the westerns still published by Cleveland.

That's right. In Canberra there are loads of charity shops and all of them are chockers with books - something's got to give and inevitably it's the older, rattier stuff.

Another depressing development. Outside Waitr*se in Wapping there is now a recycle bin specifically for used books *. Looks like it sees plenty of action - and this with a Little Free Library box within five minutes walk. The drama queen in me sometimes wonders if physical books are going the way of video cassettes and pubs. * It's locked. I checked. You feed 'em through a slot. LaterShould've kept my powder dry. Just checked, and the bin is sponsored by Read International and bears a notice advising that "all books are (a) Sent to East Africa (b) sold on-line to raise funds (c) recycled to raise funds." Assuming (c) are so utterly beyond redemption even Vault contributors wouldn't touch them, you can't really say fairer.

Ahoy! Got a massive haul of books today from a local charity shop. A proper one that sells stuff for pennies. I got.. Blood summer by Louise Cooper. Maniac by Stuart freedman. Wolf curse and blood circuit by the legend guy n Smith. The nameless by ramsey Campbell. The neighbours by Mary-rose Hayes and Epidemic 9 by Richard lerner. Phew. There where a bunch of Richard niven books as well but after recently reading some of his stuff I didn't waste my hard earned 10p.

Blood summer by Louise Cooper. -
I recall enjoying this though it's more a quiet lyrical romance rather than out and out horror. I seem to remember she wrote a sequel the name of which escapes me.

KC Good to hear from you, Mr. Sunshine Crab. Reviews of Blood Summer HERE. Sequel was In Memory of Sarah Bailey (New English Library, 1977), aka " the one with the 'Count Yorga' cover."

Wow! Great cover. If/when you have time, love to see the story list. (I suppose it might already be on somebody's blog.)

Cool! Thanks Dem! That title tale certainly sounds like a nasty bit of work...

Cool! Thanks Dem! That title tale certainly sounds like a nasty bit of work... H. Yep, one of our Advent Calendar ever-presents at his most deeply unpleasant! The two companion volumes, recently reissued in Omnibus edition as Horror! Under The Tombstones by David A. Sutton's excellent Shadow Publications, are equally worthy of your time.
