Just posted this on the RCMB but I figured there might be more people over here in the dear old Vault that might get a kick out of it. Here are 15 random quotes from British horror films of the 1960s and 1970s that I've fished from my brain during dull moments while shopping in Bristol today. Quotes may not be exactly right due to my memory but anyone who knows me should be able to guess most of them anyway.
I'll post the answers in a bit if anyone is willing enough to have a go:
1 That was done with a bicycle chain?
2 Are you telling me that an ape that lived two million years ago broke out of that crate, killed the baggage man and put him in there, then locked everything up neat and tidy, and got away?
3 Wash yourself, or someone will do it for you.
4 Course, there’s lots of things a blind man CAN do
5 --and I hope you enjoy snuffing it.
6 I have created four messengers of death, four horsemen of my created apocalypse, four carriers of the plague who will infect their miserable brethren. You, ------, are now one of the four.
7 To his glorious majesty King James III - May God bless him and keep him in exile.
8 There have been seventeen cases so far – bodies found with every drop of blood drained out of them.
9 Lacked originality? My Julius Caesar – cut down by a drunken mob in an abandoned warehouse? My Titus Andronicus – ‘This is Your Dish Merridith Merridew? My Othello? One of the greatest performances in the history of the theatre!
10 He takes the form of a cat. But he’s not a cat - he’s inside me. He’s inside my head!
11 They have destroyed my servant. They will be destroyed.
12 That’s right – go. Run away and hide from the truth like that idiot downstairs. But it won’t do any good you know you can tell Rutherford for me. Tell him the truth will find him out. Tell him!
13 And the sky father shall weep. Weep! That means rain, Waterlow
14 That he’s dead is of no importance. Best thing that could have happened to him. He was of no use to us or to himself. Now we shall need new material, naturally. Herr Abner in 106 perhaps. No? Oh well, we’ve plenty of time to decide that. Plenty of time.
15 Richard? I don’t know anyone called Richard. My name is Dominik.
And if this is a success watch out for the follow up Pan / Fontana / random British horror fiction Xmas Quiz. If I can think of one.

Well, I'm fairly certain I know the answers to: 2 5 15 I may know the answers to: 4 8 but I need to think a bit more about those. Also possibly: 1 No, I'm definite about 8 now too! Do you want us to post our suggested answers here, John? It'll be spoilers for everyone else if we do. I'm sure there will be people here who know far more of these than I do - you're all so damned knowledgable! ;D

Probably the best is if people have a go and I'l just say what score they got, rather than say which specific answers are correct. It's just a bit of fun, after all.

14 - Frankenstein & The Monster From Hell?

Well, I've got 2, 5 and 15 exactly the same as Charles - that quote from Peter Cushing in From Beyond the Grave when he sells Ian Carmichael's character the snuff box must be one of my favourite PC quotes! I thought 8 might have been The Abominable Dr Phibes? (the Terry-Thomas bit) I was torn between Witchfinder General and Blood on Satan's Claw for no. 7 I have a feeling 11 might be one of the Dracula's - maybe a later one? I can just see Chris Lee uttering that line - but I might be wrong! As for the rest - like I said, you're all much cleverer than I am!

Very impressive everyone!
Dr Terror did the best, getting an impressive 10 correct answers out of 15
Well done to fullbreakfast and killercrab for getting House of Whipcord & Blood on Satan's Claw
Mr Marsh is spot on with no.14 - the last line uttered in a Hammer Frankenstein film, and a poignant one I think.
So - Number 1 and Number 4 still to get

I take it the answers already in are wrong John? For number 4 , I was hedging towards the Amicus Blind Alleys segment ? Not right is it?
Franklin - brilliant call on FATMFH !

If no 1 isn't Psychomania, is it the other film with Beryl Reid in it - The Beast in the Cellar? I don't know why, but for some reason I can see Beryl Reid saying it. Probably wrong again though ..

Precisely Mr Marsh! Seeing as that's the fate of your namesake in then 'Disembodies Hand' episode I'm very pleased you got it!
OK one left, which is number one. It's not Beast in the Cellar. This clue should help:
It's a police inspector's response to finding the eyeball-wrenched corpse of Michael Sharvell-Martin (who used to be in Dave Allen's show a lot) jammed in the boot of a car in a lock-up in this classic mid-70s bit of nastiness.
