It's finally ready. The new edition of Victorian Tales of Terror. Out of print for 43 years, Hugh's third anthology now comes with the addition of an extra story, originally planned for the first edition, as well as a new introduction. I have kept everything that was in the original. At the moment, due to issues with Amazon, it is only available in paperback. Available on Amazon: Amazon UKAmazon US

Thanks Richard. Have updated Victorian Tales of Terror thread. My guess as to why Hugh dropped C. Housman's The Were-wolf is that Brian J. Frost had only recently revived it in The Werewolf Book. Either that, or W. H. Allen wouldn't allow him another 45 pages of book!

I had wondered about it being a matter of page count, but I hadn't realised that the story was included in another anthology around the same time. Fascinating stuff. Thanks for passing that on!

Just wanted to add the new edition of Terror by Gaslight to the Bibliography. I know it got a mention on the Terror by Gaslight page, too. 'First published in 1975, this collection is renowned anthologist Hugh Lamb’s companion piece to his popular Victorian Tales of Terror. This new Memorial Edition features the original fourteen stories plus three more selected from Hugh’s collection of unused material, marking their first appearance in an anthology of this type. You will also find a new Afterword from Mike Ashley, noted anthologist and longtime friend of Hugh Lamb.' Contents: Foreword Purification The Beckoning Hand Nothing But the Truth The Haunted House of Paddington A Dreadful Night The House of Strange Stories The Invisible Eye The Earth Draws The Wondersmith The Basilisk A Dead Man’s Teeth The Doomed Man Kentucky’s Ghost The Weird Woman Not Explained A Wonderful Guy The White Woman of Slaith The Delver in the Stacks (new afterword by Mike Ashley) Acknowledgements About the Editor
