Now then folks, I have some exciting news for you all! Friend of the Vault and editor of The Thinking Man's Crumpet, Coral King, has taken on a new co-editor. It's none other than ... ME!! The idea is that there will be a January 2009 relaunch of the printed genre magazine aimed at female contributors - New Year, new editor, new start ... that kind of thing. The ethos of the magazine is to encourage and inspire women writers and illustrators/artists - but we'll let the men look at it too! Watch this space for further news of a brand new website and submission details. But for the time being, if you want to make informal enquiries about the magazine, please PM me ... Cheers! ;D

Oh, it's just occurred to me - there do seem to be more men around this forum than women. So, gents, let me address you directly. Does your lovely lady lie awake at night thinking "I wish I could get a little story published, or a poem, or some artwork"? Does she look at you enviously when you talk about life in the Vault of Evil, wishing above all else that she could join in and share your passion? If so, why not encourage her to do a little something for The Thinking Man's Crumpet? Or are you a bit worried she might be able to write or draw better than you?

Shouldn't you be getting on with your little dusting? I dunno. You give 'em the vote ..... Does she look at you enviously when you talk about life in the Vault of Evil, wishing above all else that she could join in and share your passion? Not quite. Usually, her eyes shoot skywards or she slowly shakes her head, murmuring darkly the while about all the space occupied by my mouldy books and no, much as she appreciates the kind offer (and i can't help but detect an undercurrent of sarcasm in her voice), she does not want to read Eat Them Alive!, thank you very much. Or are you a bit worried she might be able to write or draw better than you? There is no 'might be' about it. Anyhow, good luck to you both with The Thinking Man's Crumpet #2. Be sure to give us the website details when it's up and running!

Cheeky monkey, Dem! Anyway, you can tell I'm new to all this editing stuff as I completely forgot to say something ... We'd love some non-fiction too! So if you, or your lady, are into writing articles, reviews, interviews, etc, we're looking for those too. Website and contact details to follow shortly ... ;D

Right, Coral has the website up and running, and we're ready to go! So here's the website: www.myspace.com/womenwritersAnd here's the blurb with submission details: TTMC is a magazine project edited by Caroline Callaghan and Coral King. Our main aim is to promote new and interesting female writers. We also feature a guest male writer in each issue. Artwork will be welcome, as will verse, articles, interviews and short stories.
Submissions are currently open for issue two, which is due in the new year. We would like to see examples of horror, science fiction and erotica, but all genres will be considered, and to encourage new writers we are not insisting on full technical formatting - as long as it's legible that's fine. Please submit your work by email to coralking@live.co.uk
Sorry, there's no payment, but all contributors will receive a free copy, and all reviews will be published in the blog for you to use for promotional purposes on your own site. TTMC will also be for sale - details nearer the release date.
Issue one was very popular, so come on ladies, give it a go!
