Hello all - I havent been on the boards for a couple of weeks now, as I have been actively seeking gainful employment, throwing random items into a slow cooker and seeing what comes out the other end, doing stuff around the house that I can put off no longer, and downloading a few films for the i-pod. So here I am, back again and as usual seeking the help of Vault!
I have already gone down the (quite expensive?) I tunes route, and from their oddly picked selection of films I got 'Phibes Rises Again' and 'Theater Of Blood, - they have a pretty good collection of Vincent Price movies for some reason. But as I am a complete novice at the whole thing, I have two questions for the good people at Vault;
1. Does anyone know of a good site where I could get ipod friendly downloads of any Amicus or Hammer movies, preferably legally?
2. My original intention was to put all of my DVDs on the i-pod, and my Mrs got me a conversion software pack. But I missed the glaringly obvious, in that it wont convert any conventional DVDs as they are all copy protected. So again does anyone know of a way around this, so I can at least get the DVDs onto the PC, and then convert them to i-pod friendly?
My brother bought me an excellent 'unemployment present' - the Laurel and Hardy DVD box set (20 discs) and I would love to be able to have all the short movies on the ipod for a bit of laughter on a tedious bus journey.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated - I hope you are all well and I look forward to kick starting my Pan Horror chats again very soon!
Colin (Luke)

Too technical/up-to-date for me I'm afraid, Colin. I wouldn't know an iPod if it got up and kicked me in the face!
Hope your job-hunting is going well anyway.

Erm. Tricky one, Colin. Not having an i pod, and never having tried to copy a dvd, perhaps i shouldn't comment but it seems to me you'll need to download some free software. This article might prove helpful in overcoming problem 2 ... DVD Ripper Google in 'free video converters i pod' and ... you're spoilt for choice. Maybe you could scoot around some forums, see if people recommend a particular program? Most important of all: 1. Before you download ANYTHING, make sure your anti-virus is up to date. 2. Vault will not be held responsible for your computer exploding should you be insane enough to follow any 'helpful advice' you find on this forum.
