Has anyone heard this album? It's probably the only CD I would mention on this site as it is exceptionally dark and quite unnerving, both in sound and in subject matter too. Look it up on Amazon and have a look at some of the reviews - it has seriously freaked people out!
I am a big fan of Scott Walker, and as he nowadays tends to release a new album every 11 years (Climate Of Hunter in 1984, Tilt in 1995 and The Drift in 2006) there is plenty of time to absorb his incresingly challenging works!
If you havent heard it, but can borrow a copy or get it from the library, give it a try. It's definitely a Marmite album - it will either scare the hell out of you and change your life forever, or you might just think it's a load of self-indulgent twaddle.
There is even a 'Facebook' group called 'Scott Walker's The Drift Scarred Me For Life' !
It was writing up my post for 'Love On The Farm' (from Pan 24) with all of the reputation that particular tale has, and that made me think about 'The Drift' - especially a track on the CD called 'The Escape' (again see Amazon reviews), in that sometimes you can read terrific and terrible things about a story / movie / tv show / piece of music, yet remain completely unmoved...................
Any views? Let me know!

i LOVE scott walker having discovered him through a blog review of this documentary 30 Century Man over Tim Lucas's Video Watchblog. My girlfriend and I were laying down in the dark listening to music before bed when I put this on, not having heard it previous to this moment, and Farmer in the City is just a haunting affecting work.
Absolutely amazing stuff.
