I have only ever seen thismovie once and that was a good years ago. I remember the Joan Collins / Tree story, and vaguely remember one about a lad and the 'Tiger Tiger Burning Bright' story.
Can anyone remember what the other stories are, and also the linking story.
I have vague recollections of it being a bit like 'Asylum' and that it starred Donald Pleasance?
Cheers all!
Colin

Concise breakdown of framing devise and individual stories plus photo of the tree creature being scary at BritMovie. According to Moria the individual story titles are Mr. Tiger, Penny Farthing, Mel and Luau. And here's a six minute clip of Mel. See our Joan coming to grief in the twiggy clutches of doom!

That barklovin' fellow Brian is played by Michael Jayston, who I remember seeing for the first time on American tv when he played opposite Alec Guinness in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy". It showed here in 1980. Not horror but still a very cool series, that I finally got on dvd.
From his imdb entry, he's been a very busy man over the years.

Le Carre's novels are (on the whole) superb, as grim as many horror novels but in a very different way.

Yes, I have seen it and plan on adding it to my dvd collection as some point. Bleak is a pretty good word for the general tone. Big Le Carre fan too. Read most of them. Not quick page turners though. I usually end up taking notes on the characters to keep them all in order.
