Should we start a rumour that Jojo is actually Alex White? Rest assured, Jonathan, Jojo is NOT one of the several 'Alex Whites' who wrote for van Thal's Pan Horror series. It's a pity that, (a) Demonik abandoned his recent overview of Detective Inspector Johnny Mains' BACK FROM THE DEAD, and,(b) that the book itself is not more widely available. The reason being that Johnny's long essay at the back of the book partially lifts the lid on van Thal's devious editing tactics - which included the 'Alex White Syndrome'. Is Bushwick still around? If so, I'm sure that he too might be interested in the origins of the arcane Alex White. Hey,you never know - the person who wrote 'The Clinic' might actually be a contributor to this board! Get your head round that one.

You won't mind my asking what name you wrote under? I insist on my anonymity! Besides, it was crap and is of no interest whatsoever. Well, I think it must be of some interest - otherwise you wouldn't have been approached recently as you say you were.

(b): agreed. the one thing i'm not keen on about Back From The Dead is that it's not available to the wider audience it deserves and dealers are now charging heart attack prices for copies. Pan are missing a trick if they don't secure the paperback rights. (a) i've not abandoned it, just been kept busy by real life issues this week and had little time to read or share what passes for my thoughts with board. am looking forward to tackling the David Sutton and Johnny Mains essays once i've finished on the fiction.

HP that was a bloody joke!!! Whoops, looks like I missed that Did seem a bit of an anti-climax to have it in-house. So the search is still on, which is good - it's more fun trying to find out than actually finding out most of the time .

Personally, my money is now on Conrad Hill being the author of The Clinic, after initially thinking it was Rosemary Timperley. Unless he says otherwise, I shall read and continue to read the mini masterpiece that it is and think of my dear Uncle Con... It's a shame that Back from the Dead now goes for silly money now - am thinking about releasing the PDF version for people to download...

You would have to check to make sure that your contracts with all the authors will allow you to do so. Otherwise, that sounds a good idea. David
