Justin already posted these details on Paperback Fanatic 7 thread, but it won't do any harm to recycle them here. The BFS is providing a forum for those recommended at Ye Olde Cock Tavern, Fleet Street, London, EC4Y 1AA on Saturday 19th July, doors from 2pm the event starts at 3pm promptly. the purpose of the day is to celebrate those recommended for this years award and to give people a chance to meet those recommended and have a look at the works in question. The judges are the membership of the BFS who have until the 1st August to vote on their top 3 from each category. The winners are then announced at FantasyCon in September.
Looking for a few friendly faces/moral support. Is the British Fantasy Society award nominated anthologist Charles Black going to be in attendance?
And the nominations are ..... British Fantasy Society Awards 2008I'm sure we all recognise a few shifty characters among that lot! Best of luck to all of yers!

I will be resplendant in bank regulation pinstripe suit and tie. Which should stand me out amongst the compulsory uniform of faded black jeans and death-metal band t-shirts fro such events?!??

Thought I'd bump this as it's nearly upon us. Barring last minute disasters, I'm hoping to lurch along around 2.30 pm unless the rest of you have settled on some proper arrangements. Usual drill: look for the animated corpse sitting on pavement behind a wall of empty beercans a few yards along from the pub. And avoid him/ it at all costs.

As I write this, I'm going. But there's a whole three (?) days to go. Is Chas gonna be there? Hmmm, better wear something colourful. Any news on my loan, Justin?

I'm at the film and comic con in the morning at Earls Court- and hopefully might be able to get to the Cock in the afternoon.
All depends how long the waits for the queues are....

www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com/index.htmlWhat, this one, Johnny? Flamin' 'eck! There's some names to conjour with there. If I'd known/had some money... Udo Kier is a bit of a hero of mine. Shame about Malcolm McDowell. And David Warner! Two-thirds of The Goodies! Charles Dance! (Whimper) Hope you do get down.

well, there's the dvd thingy in camden in the morning (cue buying movies you'll never watch and box sets of fifties tv series you've never seen - The White Gorilla and Colonel March with Boris Karloff respectively, if you're wondering - the latter is actually rather good), so i'll be at that and then lunch with my mate who's just got into them too, and then off to ye olde cock for me (no, misus, calm down, etc). i'll see you at the same railing we met last time, then, dem? have a can ready...

... and Colonel March with Boris Karloff respectively, if you're wondering - the latter is actually rather good).. As a HUGE Karloff fan, I'd love to get my hands on that. Haven't seen Colonel March in years. I'm envious too of those of you meeting up in London. I did wonder about possibly going to LFCC too. Sometimes I wish I lived further south ... (but not very often!)

Although I won't be in attendance, Martin Roberts, the publicity coordinator is kindly taking a few free giveaways down for me to advertise my short story collection, Voyeurs of Death. I hope everyone has a great time.

Very very sad I can't make this as I'm working. I'd have loved to go to the film & comic thing, if only to meet the director of 'Adventures of a Taxi Driver'.

Meeting up with my mates and then I'm going for John Hurt (to sign my 1st/1st Alien Hdbk) Tom Savini and Hare Krishna Zombie from Dawn of the Dead 78 (to sign something once I've stopped fretting over what that something should be...) and THEN fingers crossed - drink some fluids in the Cock.....
