I first came across David's work in professional anthologies when I was a young whipper snapper, and I've always enjoyed it, so it was an honour to have met up with him last year at the BFS convention. He's an excellent writer with an easy to read style. I can't wait to read his collection when it's published, and if there's any justice in the world, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he gets a novel or five published.

Greetings all, I wonder if anyone would happen to know whether or not David A. Riley's The Lurkers in the Abyss is still scheduled to be released later this year? Even though I was unfamilar with the author, after I came across the title in the contents for Pelan's Century anthology I have been dying to read his work. I have been searching out his stories, having just read and enjoyed 'After Nightfall' and have since vaguely recollected reading 'The Farmhouse' in the First World Fantasy Awards anthology years back(what I remember reminds me pleasantly of Laird Barron), but am awaiting the chance to experience Riley's work in full. Any help for a loyal vault reader across the pond will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

He is at his house in Bulgaria until September 2nd, but I'm sure he will provide an update upon his return.

As Shaun said, we've been away for nearly a month, having driven to our house in Bulgaria. Still feeling a bit knackered after driving back through Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium and France.
On return, though, I did find an email from John Pelan, confirming that things are slowly moving forward. The next book coming from his imprint, Midnight House, is a collection of short stories by Joseph Payne Brennan. This will be followed by a slim volume of tales by Uel Kay, The Broken Fang. Following this, both my collection and a second volume of Brennan's stories will be brought out at the same time.
I have been in contact with another publisher who has expressed interest in bringing out a second volume of my stories, but this won't be for another couple of years at least.

Next time we might have time, since we intend to move to Bulgaria for at least 6 months stretches, so the trip enroute needn't be quite so fast. (It's Tuesday so it must be Hungary!)
Whereabouts in Germany are you?

I'm in Witten, near Dortmund.

Dortmund is only slightly off our route across Germany and could be a handy place to stay overnight. There seem to be plenty of hotels around there. Next time I'll be sure to contact you beforehand and try to arrange something. This may be next May.

That's good. We should keep in touch nearer the time. I know about these dreadful long journeys.
I might be able to put you up depending on the house situation - I could well move but it wouldn't be far.
Mine is the Bates hotel with the creaking stairs...

Thanks, Craig.
Bate's Motels I can cope with - our house in Bulgaria looks a bit like that in silhouette! It's if there's a flashing neon sign above the door with Hostel written on it... If you're going to go it should at least be in a classy horror movie. ;D
