I'm finding it a tough read. Very complicated style and a lot of main characters. I've sort of gotten lost.

The best thing about Thieving Fear was the hallucination of the monster. Other than that it just seemed to be about people becoming confused.

Just re-read it. Probably my least favourite of Campbell's stuff. The constant threat to the child by the parents starts to get a little depressing after a while.
(years on I think I appreciate the effect the story had on me more)

Three Miles Up is a cracking story - very Aickmanesque.

Read SEVEN DAYS OF CAIN or CREATURES OF THE POOL or THE LAST VOICE THEY HEAR. Some of his best modern stuff there.

Brilliant read. {Spoiler}the bit with the lightbulbs was amazing Made me feel in dark ways I have never felt before or since. I don't know how but it feels like that book had a truth to it.

And, God help me, i like the look of Inconsequential Tales. The Offering to the Dead is good. Only The Wind is hilarious.

Just read this on wiki. "The apparent changeling could also be a stock, an enchanted piece of wood that would soon appear to grow sick and die. " en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChangelingThat would fit in with other preoccupations your subconscious has.

The End of a Summer's Day scared me more than anything I've read. I assumed the blind man was swapped though; a kind of changeling. being blind would sort out the problem of being seen naked, I suppose.
