Graham Masterton – The Chosen Child (William Heinemann, 1997, hc, 424 pages; this edition Mandarin, 1997, pb, 424 pages) Cover: Joe Mills This is one of last straight horror novels Masterton wrote before the new Millennium; after this he did YA like the Jim Rook series about a teacher who can see ghosts and again some pseudonymous thrillers. This one takes place in Poland where the writer became rather successful. There is much police procedural here, which became a strong element in later novels, like his Katie Maguire crime series about an Irish female investigator.
