Horror stories about the rear end, the bowels, and faeces. Do you know of any? And stories about hair growing unruly?
The rear end, indeed, which God in his infinite mercy has turned our eyes away from. We are very prudish in our time. But in the Middle Ages they portrayed the rear end as a separate talking entity.

Renaissance painter Hieronymus Bosch (a member of some sort of religious secret society) had music printed on the arse of somebody depicted in the Garden of Earthly Delights and the music was transcribed and recorded in an arrangement: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnrICy3Bc2UIt's actually a rather sweet little ditty. Hel.

Not sure that it's the done thing to reference one's own stories, but I wrote one about unruly hairs ( Hairberg, published in Nightscript VIII last year). Can cut and paste it into a PM if of interest

The most infamous one is probably Chuck Palahniuk's "Guts." The story can be found easily via Google.

Also, the excerpts from Eat Them Alive by Mrs Pierce Nace feature a lot of really extreme body horror, from what I recall. Check out the thread about the book.
Hel.

Hel. Yes, a pleasant ditty. Bosch's triptych painting used to be available in a really nice reproduction (on stiff wooden board, with frame) in some art museums. I remember it hanging on our wall when I was a child. I don't know what happened to it, but it's gone now. There was also a splendid reproduction of Bruegel's Wedding Dance, which I still have.

Can cut and paste it into a PM if of interest Thank you very much for "Hairberg". Yep, that was 'body horror' alright!! I suppose this is what is called 'kitchen sink realism', or bathroom sink horror realism. UUGH!!! Disgusting! Horrendous! And at the same time funny! You must have had some good laughs while you wrote it. Except the supernatural ending, which was very creepy - and original in concept!

Not sure that it's the done thing to reference one's own stories, ... WHY NOT. Famous writers do it all the time, promote their own work, blow their own trumpet, ... all the time. It is requisite for success. Without the ambition for glory - there will be no author, no poet. It is just as important as talent and work.

I began reading "Guts". It is perverse, so I stopped. Not the kind of thing I was looking for.
