Ronald Kelly - Blood Kin (Zebra Books, June 1996, 381 pages) Ronald Kelly was another of these Zebra only writers, but his output covered more themes than a lot of his collegues. His Moon of the Werewolf was re-issued as Undertaker's Moon recently in the Macabre Ink Recurrected Horros edition. Kelly also wrote a lot of short stories and is still active, publishing collections of new and old material like Tales from the Southern-Fried Crypt or Irish Gothic: Tales of Celtic Horror.
This is a typical vampire novel in the backwoods of Tennessee in 1996. Lots of characters named Tammy, Grandpappy, a preacher called Brother Craven and a dog called Old Nailhead, guns and stakes.

I remember two of his short horrors from Jeff Gelb anthologies, Blood Suede Shoes ( Shock Rock, and a snuff outing, Scream Queen in Hot Blood #5: Seeds of Fear. Does Blood Kin feature regular erotic interludes?

This is one of the many unread books I bought back then. I must have bought this in the year of publishing when I ordered regularily at some mail-order outfit called Paperback Previews in Denton, Texas, of all places which published a monthly catalogue of 20 pages in form of a newspaper. This was before internet selling became the way to go.
