James Herbert - Ash (Macmillan UK, 2012, hc, 693 pages) Cover: Blacksheep This is the last novel James Herbert (OBE) wrote after a steady career of nearly 40 years in the field. He died a year after its release. He is the only British writer of the genre (as far as I know) who earned himself one of those rare 'bestseller' merit badges and made the successful jump as writer still published by mainstream publishers into the new millennium. Not bad for a guy who made his name with a book about killer rats.
