Joe R. Lansdale – Bestsellers Guaranteed (Ace Books, 1993, 207 pages) Content: Introduction The White Rabbit (1981) The Dump (1981) God of the Razor (1987) Chompers (1982) The Fat Man (1987) Bob the Dinosaur Goes to Disneyland (1989) On a Dark October (1984) My Dead Dog, Bobby (1987) Bestsellers Guaranteed (1985) Dog, Cat, and Baby (1987) The Shaggy House (1986) By the Hair of the Head (1983) Not from Detroit (1988) Pentecostal Punk Rock (1989) The Job (1989) The Events Concerning a Nude Fold-Out Found in a Harlequin Romance (1992)Another early collection of Lansdale stories. Basically this is the content of an earlier collection Stories by Mama Lansdale's Youngest Boy published by Pulphouse Publishing in 1991. Unusual that it is acknowledged on the cover. Each story comes with a nice introduction. The cover though is as unsuited for Lansdale as is imaginable. File under cosy Fantasy with dragons and elves in the bookstore. Bestsellers guaranteed? I don't think so.

Amusing story titles. I appreciate his sense of humor although I doubt the stories would be my flagon of mead.
Thanks, Andreas!

Yes, that cover really is quite garish and looks like something from a Robert Aspirin novel or similar.
Never was a fan of "Dog, Cat, and Baby" (I remember my father flipping through my copy of Dark Masques, reading it, and saying "this guy doesn't know anything about dogs or cats"). "Bob the Dinosaur" though is a cute little story.
