This Shawn Ryan seem not be the Shawn Ryan of "The Shield". Ahern and familiy are well-known for "The Survivalist" and gun-writing, Ed Gorman was mostly known as a mystery writer. And Douglas Clegg published a lot of horror novels at the time.

Seems like a pretty classic set of anthology writers of the 90s.
Is Harold Schechter the same one as the professor who writes true crime books about serial killers? I didn’t know he wrote fiction

I didn’t know he wrote fiction According to the contributer notes he is. Professor of English at Queens College. Writer of the non-fiction Deviant, Deranged and Depraved and a novel he did with his wife Jonna Semeiks with the title Dying Breath.
