Brian Lumley - Necroscope: Avengers (Necroscope 13) (Hodder & Stoughton, 2001, hc, posted edition Tor Books, 2002, 553 pages) This was the last Necroscope novel for the forseeable future. In 2006 there followed yet another novel The Touch, also Lumley did write some novellas and short stories starring his hero Harry Keogh which were collected. Bringing the series to 17 books. The sheer length of this saga is quite an achievement. A rough - because of the different editions - estimate is 9200 pages, not counting the later short stories and novellas. Most or all books are still in print more than 35 years later. The series survived the Harry Potter craze, the YA craze, the urban vampire craze, the sparkling vampire craze and the zombie craze. Not bad for a writer whose reception is, to say it politely, not uncontroversial.
