Guy N. Smith - Water Rites (Zebra Books, 1997, 253 pages) If you don't count The Busker a year later, this was the last horror novel of Guy N. Smith at a mainstream publisher after a career of remarkable 23 years. The last books couldn't get a British publisher which says a lot about the market at the end of the 90s. At least he got one nice last cover.

Not even heard of this one. Return to The Sucking Pit? He sure got lucky with the cover artist — again.

Cool cover. I wonder if the novel features ruthless, upscale members of the publishing industry screaming in horror as they're dragged to a hideous fate in the sucking pit. Now that would have been poetic justice.

According to one impressed Goodreadsian, "mostly it's about a reservoir inspector not fixing a light bulb." But probably there's some more nuance to it than that.
