Guess what, I'm staying. Well done pulphack. Of course you could always use your 17 years of influence to get me kicked. I wasn't trying to be patronising, do you know how hard it is to run a forum? It's easy to give up if no one contributes, and feel disheartened. It's because I want the site to survive I said that.

Now now, children, calm down! Let's not let this frank expression of opinions degenerate into a brawl. At least I am almost a child, what is his excuse? One day dem bones will get tired of investing all this time on this forum, it's important people give back. If he is sick of me he can tell me, but it's not up to people who post once in a blue moon to try to dictate what others do. You don't like new people coming in, but you won't invest time yourself. You probably want the site to be like it was all those years ago, and I'm sorry it's not for you, but people leave, or sadly pass away, and things have to move on, or they come to an end. I'm sorry you don't like me, but I've never personally insulted you, and I've tried to contribute.

I want to give some advice too. You may have found me annoying but at least I kept the site active, when I was searching for other forums (yes, I actually did try to find somewhere else to go to free you from me), almost all had died through lack of activity (which was annoying as one would have suited me). It's easy to happen, especially when you have only a few regular people posting. And really most of you only have less than two thousand posts in years and years of being members. Jojo is a forum expert and can probably tell you about this. Guests make up the bulk of visitors, and they won't return if a site is inactive. So try to maybe post more regularly and start the odd thread rather than rely on dem bones all the time. I bet your thinking she's only been here less than a year what does she know, and how dare she, but guess what: I don't care. Because...I'M LEAVING! And can say what I want. Obviously I'm not leaving yet, as I haven't said my big goodbye. But I will, soon. (This isn't meant as a criticism but an observation) Personally, I don't think the regulars care whether guests return or not, that's their choice. The Vault isn't around to win some popularity contest; nobody's obliged to stay or post regularly, if they're unable or unwilling. Dem's posts are a hard act to beat, so I rarely try. I'm sure Dem posts because he enjoys doing so, or at least I hope so, & not because he feels obliged to.

it's not up to people who post once in a blue moon to try to dictate what others do. To be fair - it's not up to anyone, regardless of how often they post, to dictate to others what to do. I think we have arrived at the right approach on here - if someone posts something that nobody else is interested in, then we ignore it. Nobody ever says "this is off-topic... don't do it again". We actually had quite a long (for us) debate a few years back about whether to even have "likes" (and, god forbid, "dislikes") on posts - I think we even had a poll on it (in which, if I remember right, in classic Vault style - nobody really cared much one way or the other).

I feel no enthusiasm either way. I am ambivalent about your lack of enthusiasm.

Well at least it's not just my polls people ignore. Have many polls been attempted?

He is obviously compelled to do it, by some force beyond our understanding. You were compelled to post this twice.

Oh, right, those idiotic "likes". I have ignored them a long time and someday I discovered that I use them like everybody else . ProBoards could eliminate them tomorrow and I wouldn't miss them.
