These are still the only details I can find about Sunday's event which looks set to be SWAMPED by at least six Vault members:
Zardoz Pulp Fair: Sunday 21st Oct 2007
The 18th Paperback and Pulp Bookfair is at Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London, Victoria, Sunday 21st Oct 2007, 10-4, 30+ booktables (tables £50 each, 2 for £90),
entry £2.50
Just in case you missed it on the other board, the plan is that, if we've not already recognised each other by our trail of slime or the fact that not even the dealers will talk to any of us, we "all" meet just outside the door where the fair is being held at 2pm!

Hi Corpsie, yes 10-4 is right. But most of us will probably be drifting in around midday and the idea is that we meet up just outside the hall where the fair is being held at 2 O'clock. If it's anything like the past two years, the fair will be held in the basement. There's a table set up where they take your entry money (£2.50) and once you've paid you can come and go as you please. So be near that table at around 2pm. I'll have a word with whoever's taking the ticket money to let me know if anybody asks after Vault. But I reckon we'll have sussed each other by then. Looking forward to meeting you and Georgy. Be great to meet you too, Brad!

Thanks for clearing that up De...I mean Brad .....Georgy isn't feeling all too well right now so it's 50/50 if she can make it and to make matters worse there are delays on the line to Victoria ...that doesn't help for her ease of travel. However I will be comming down and it helps that we don't have to be down so early because...well I don't like early starts ...then again who does. Will meet you at the places you have written about and will be looking foward to seeing other fans of lurid books.

It was a case of OH BOLLOCKS! today because after massive delays o the train from Brighton I got down to London by 3:30 and had to rush to the book fair.
When I got thier nearly everything was closed up apart from two sellers and a third who nearly had all thier stuff packed away.
They helped me as much as they could but they told me the people with the pulp horror stuff had left a while ago. I managed to pick up a couple of items but it left me feeling rather flat after looking foward to it for soo long.
I do have a couple of questions:
1) Looking at the spaces and the size of the room I did expect the Book Fair to be a lot bigger than it actuley was...or am I being niave.
2) Are there any other horror book fairs on the calander for the remainder of this year?

that's a crying shame, the absurd transport problems you encountered - typical railways these days. dem went out of his way to try and sort things out, leaving a message for you at the front of the fair, and also popping back around 3. really sorry you missed us, as it was great to meet up with dem, nightreader, brad and mark (thanks again for the Ghoul, mark!). we adjourned to the wetherspoons up the road and spent a good few hours discussing glorious old tat.
as far as the fair itself goes, there wasn't too much old horror stuff as far as i could see - lots of sleaze paperbacks and tv-tie-ins, and some interesting reprints of old pulp/new riffs on the old. in fact, i bought nine book and not a single one was horror (though a couple look like they might actually be horrible when i get to read them - did i really need that 1970 Hank Jansen?).
i'm always out of the loop with book fairs - there was a nice comic/pulp fair that used to be in bloomsbury, but i don't know if i've missed that (again) this year.
i have to say, if the gentlemen i met yesterday are typical of the board as a whole (and i think they probably are), this is a very nice place to be.

Greatly enjoyed meeting everyone yesterday, and look forward to next year. Started reading the DOC SAVAGE book I picked up at Zardoz on the underground, and became so engrossed in it that I missed my stop!

Thanks to pulphack, nightreader, brad, mark and adriana for making yesterday such a memorable and enjoyable day. Last year, the one good thing about the event was getting to meet some new friends but this time there were far more dealers. I ended up with a dozen paperbacks (two courtesy of Mr & Mrs. Samuels - thank you!), Paperback Fanatic, and a 90's fanzine, Rumble - devoted to the delights of Juvenile Delinquent fiction - from a guy named Martin who nightreader and I tried to rope into joining Vault when we saw him leafing through a copy of the latest ...Fanatic. I hope we're successful. And then there was the mystery of the pulphack impostor! This guy graciously accepted my praise for his work and generously took some time out of his busy schedule ("I have to pick a load up from Camden: gotta drive back to Hull") to meet Nightreader and Mark before zooming off. Imagine the On The Buses-like 'hilarious mix up' moment when, come 2 O'clock, this fellow comes out to meet us and introduces himself as pulphack, only to be told that he couldn't be, we just met him half an hour ago, etc. Really sorry we missed you, Corpsie. Like pulphack mentioned, I went back to look for you at three. I really didn't expect you'd show after that. Oh, and nightreader. Apologies for boring you rigid with tales of Barnet fans for half an hour before that wonderful revelation. "Actually, dem, i'm not that Andy" Again, thanks my friends.

It was great to see you Andy and Andy (plus, albeit briefly, the impostor Andy! : Brad and Dem! I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks to Dem for organising it (with additional thanks for providing me with those obscure items of North London Vampiriana!) Shall I bung up here that photo Dem took of the four of us in the pub? Is that OK with everyone? (One thing I did pick up on Sunday, that I didn't want, was a horrible cold! I'm sneezing away here!) All best Mark S.

As the others who were there have already said - great to meet dem, mark, brad and pulphack at the Zardoz fair. The fair itself was ok, picked up a few nice things but the highlight was meeting the other Vaulters, with beer and much chin-wagging Rounded off my trip with a raid on the Notting Hill bookshop and the Fantasy Centre - good job I'm not in London too often, my credit card couldn't stand it!

Here it is. Sorry it's a bit gloomy. I think my batteries were on the blink, and can't blame Dem's photography! Left to right: the two Andys (Nightreader and Pulphack), me, and Brad. Mark S.
