This bit of sad news was in this week's update of "Pulp Coming Attractions" www.pulpcomingattractions.com/ >>Jon Arfstrom: November 11, 1928 - December 2, 2015 Jon Arfstrom, 87, died on Dec. 2, 2015. He was the last surviving cover artist for the original Weird Tales magazine for which he produced several covers and many interior drawings in the early 1950s. He also produced professional work for Mystic Magazine, Spaceway, and Other Worlds Science Stories as well as fan-produced magazines such as The Fanscient and Scientifantasy. Arfstrom then worked for Brown & Bigelow for 40 years doing drawings and paintings for books, calendars and advertising. He was “rediscovered” in the late 1970s by some of the Minneapolis fan community when he welcomed members of MinnCon/Arcana into his home to view his then-contemporary “surrealism” paintings. He later produced covers and other illustrations for Fedogan & Bremer, PS Publishing, and Haffner Press. He won a Stoker Award in 1994 for illustrating Robert Bloch’s book Early Fears (Fedogan & Bremer), was a guest at the 2015 Pulpfest in Columbus Ohio and he displayed work at two World Fantasy Conventions in Minneapolis (1993,2002) and the most recent World Fantasy Convention in Saratoga Springs.>>

Very sorry to hear that. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Mark. Had my itchy trigger finger on the 'like' button, but you can't like news of this nature.
