Francis Matthews, the voice of Captain Scarlet has died. He also played Paul Temple and was a Hammer horror actor. For those of a certain age, another loss. More here.RIP.

Very sad news. He turned up quite often in various TV series during the 1970s and 1980s, and, of course, helped to seal Dracula in his watery tomb in Dracula, Prince of Darkness.
RIP Francis.

All these years, and I never realised they were one and the same person. Our indestructible hero also inspired another of the seriously appealing Armada paperbacks: Captain Scarlet & The MysteronsRIP, Mr. Matthews and thank you for the joy.

Again, belated, but Mr Matthews was a fine actor who - much as I love Gerry Anderson - deserves to live in the memory for his other work, too. Even his brief turn in Morecambe & Wise's The Intelligence Men is wonderful - such gravitas in the face of idiocy... a great little mover, as Eric might say.
