Hey folks,
Found this board a fair while back - and it made my Dad's day to hear how folks were discussing his books! I did post up a few words here and on another related board at the time.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you know - since there seems to be a few fans here - Dad died last Thursday (October 13th). He'd been fighting lung cancer for a year or so, seemed to have beaten it too, when a very bad pneumonia hit him and sadly did him in. The end was peaceful, at least. Oh and not drawn out, hell he was joking with Mum and me even just a couple of hours before he passed on.
He has a couple of books either finished, or very close to being finished, including a non-fiction work that my Mum and I would dearly love to see published given the 20+ years of effort he put in to it. I'm hoping to find someone with the right mind set to help with that, we'll see. So there's a small, admittedly very small, chance another Shackleford novel, or even non-fiction 'tome', may hit the high streets. Time will tell.
All the best everyone.
Greg Shackleford

Extremely sorry for your loss, Greg.
I really enjoyed Jack's novels TANITH and HOUSE OF THE MAGUS and I know he'll have certainly given many folks on here a very entertaining time with his work. Is his non-fiction work an autobiography?
again, condolences,
Johnny

Thanks mate.
Nope, it's not a bio or anything - it's called 'Aspects of the Goddess' and could, from the bits I've read, rattle a few feminist cages! Though it's much more than that too. Given he was a witch, it's about witchcraft and such things and the woman's role. I think, only read a few bits and pieces so far.
Good stuff, in my opinion, though. Might be hard to get published. If we can't get it out on real paper, assuming I can get someone to help finish it, I'll publish it online and let folk know in every way I know how.

Truly sorry to hear this, Greg. As you know, your dad is well thought of on here and it gave us such a lift when you first contacted us on the old board after Sev had started a thread for Tanith. My best to you and please pass on our condolences to your mum. Do let us know how you get on with the book(s).

Thanks again folks.
Johnny, I've tried to reply to your PM but I'm not sure if it's gone through or not! I'm using my laptop accessing the net via my phone's WiFi sharing and it's a bit clunky and slow! If you haven't got it I'll get back in touch after this is all done, the funeral is next Monday. Won't be a problem though.
Cheers. Dad would be chuffed by the fact there are still fans of his work kicking about. Be well all.

Heya Greg, PM came through sweet as a bell. I think that the place I mentioned is the best one to go to - I also know of a few speciality publishers in America - so we'll touch base after your dad's funeral and you can give me a phone. I'll help in whatever way I can.
