Something coming up from my own home town which I dearly wish I could claim I had a hand in; a web-series, Blood and Bone China. bloodandbonechina.com/. Looks good, so fingers crossed.

The series has begun, first two episodes are up on Youtube and looking pretty good, actually. Personally I think the theme tune doesn't really suit it, but for a low-budget indie production, it's putting up a good show. Maybe I'm enjoying it more because I've know all the locations (worked in one or two back in my curatorial days), but take a look and see what you think.

You're probably best off hitting 'em with some VISUALS, lem. must say, i'm enjoying it so far, particularly the action that takes place out on the streets - they've made great use of some suitably decrepit looking locations. There's a nice, cheeky Hammer-tribute feel to it - Hilda must be the most glamorously attired Victorian prostitute outside of A Study In Terror and Newlyn Howell's desk is cluttered with impressive show-offy accoutrements: a scary skull here, a The Boys Own Annual there. And all "based on a real life story of vampires set in 19th century Stoke", none of this fancy made up Anne Rice hokum for these folk. Watched the trailer, too, read some press and am looking forward to the introduction of feisty journalist Anna Fitzgerald.

I understand some of the inspiration was the true story of the Polish gentleman who choked to death on a garlic clove in his flat in Stoke back in the 70s; I was always most intrigued by that, someone living in a state of siege in my hometown for fear of vampires. Nice pics, dem, you always have a good eye for the globes...

Oh yeah, Demetrius Myiciura, the poor fellow who festooned his bedroom with vampire repellents and suffocated on a pickled onion in his sleep? i remember reading about him in Daniel 'Transplant' Farson's trusty Hamlyn Book Of Horror but it was obvious Mr. F was holding back some of the FACTS for fear of alarming the public. So very well done to the bony people for revealing the terrifying truth behind the lesbian vampires of Stoke on Trent after decades of official cover up! It seems the third chapter goes live this Sunday. i never bothered with the Hammer Beyond The Rave series online - just couldn't get enthused about it somehow - but i'm following this.

Hi guys. I'm Chris Stone, director/producer of Blood and Bone China. I'm glad you are enjoying the series. Chapter Three: Anna of the Six Towns is now online on the website www.bloodandbonechina.comChapter Seven is based on the 'Vampire of the Villas' case. We have filmed outside the real house and recreated the interior. I met up with the police officer involved and went through all of the original case files. These were on display at the premiere two weeks ago. You can watch a little behind the scenes video of the premiere here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tt6YHXpD8QThe police officer's house is used as the brother's house exterior in Chapter 2. Hope you keep watching, Chapter 4 is online on April 3rd at 6pm. I'm also looking for extras for a big scene in Chapters 11 and 12, please drop me an email if you want to be involved: info@bloodandbonechina.com Cheers, Chris www.chrisstonefilms.com

Watched a couple of episodes today; was favourably impressed although I might have gone for no make up aka Leone. It certainly stands up well next to current stuff.

Yes all the original newspapers were on display plus the death certificate.
John Pye (the police officer from the case) spoke at the premiere. The character of Alexander is sort of named after him... 'Pyre'.
Yes lots of sleepless nights and months of hard work have gone in to it.

It's really going well, Chris, I am so impressed! Thank you for putting Stoke on the map as a creative centre for more than just pottery (which it hardly does any more anyway). I'd love to be an extra but sadly I dislike my own face too much to let it be filmed. Not to mention the dislike of bright lights and the habit of chewing raw meat... Seriously, best of luck with this, and please please do make more. I think Stoke is ripe for a modern day horror (in fact I'm still writing one myself ).
