So, I'm hopelessly overwrought in my prose. Hi! I'm Julie from 19 Nocturne Boulevard. I've always loved horror anthologies, and have bunches of them somewhere. [Yeah, no big surprise.] Recently, I've been scouring older stories, looking for lost gems (i.e., old enough to be out of copyright...I am a good girl and respect people's rights) to resurrect for my audio dramas, and when I came across this site, it seemed like EXACTLY the perfect kind of place where I might just say "tell me of your favorites" and get a bazillion new ideas!!! It's especially fun to get input from enthusiasts (i.e., "folks who know their s***") Let me know if that would be acceptable behavior - I also try really hard to respect people's forum rules.

Excellent! I love a challenge! Where would be an appropriate place to start such a thread, oh mighty voice of doom?

You might like to try the From Walpole & Monk Lewis to the first World War section as that's where we deal with mostly out of copyright/ public domain stories. you never know, some of our contemporary authors may even fancy the treatment once they've heard what you can do - i'll be finding out myself later as i just downloaded the adaptations of H. P. L. 's The Picture In The House and A Trilogy For Xmas as tasters. very impressive site you have there. 19 Nocturne Boulevard

Excellent! Thanx so much for all your help! [You'll have to tell me what you think of those!] I have adapted from a couple of living authors, and they've been pretty happy with the results, so - fingers crossed, here's hoping.

Well, you got my attention - I love my audio adaptations, big fan of old time radio and the Man In Black, so I'm certainly paying you a visit.

I can't wait to hear what you think! [as long as it's nice....] I've done a few classic stories already (much of what I do is my own original writings, but I like adapting), like M.R. James' "Lost Hearts", Several different Lovecraft stories, Borges' "Tlon, Uqbar..." and Wilde's "Canterville Ghost", among others. Adaptation is a tricky skill to learn. That's why I enjoy it so much.

That really was an excellent audio adaptation of my favourite Borges story. My suggestion for another adaptation would be Machen's "The White People" Mark S.

So glad you enjoyed it! I'm quite pleased with myself on that one. Adaptation is such a tricky skill to learn. That's why I pick such easy source material (hahahaha :)hahahahahaha) I've considered the White People, and can't remember why I set it aside. Will look at it again, I promise.
