Anyone read either of Stuart Kinder's books? THE INSTITUTE (Granada 1984, I think). THE CANNIBAL (Grafton 1988). I have them both but haven't got around to them yet

Your thread reminded me I have The Cannibal, so I decided to read it.
Not bad at all, has something of the Pan Book of Horror about it, although it is a little slow going to start with. I think it could do with a nel-like 128 pages rather than 171 (I don't mind longer novels, but this one just seems to have some padding). Some of the african scenes do remind me of Kowlongo plaything in tone (not quite on that level though) & although it might not quite live up to the promise of the cover, The Cannibal is certainly worth a go.
