The Irish Witch - Dennis Wheatley. Arrow paperback. Third Impression 1975. Originally published by Hutchinson & Co (Publishers) Ltd. 1973.
The Hell Fire Club is being revived - by a sensuous wanton who calls herself the Irish Witch. Once more the titled of the land are being sucked into its vortex of vice and degradation. And among them is Susan, Roger Brook's young and lovely daughter.
Soon it will be Walpurgis Night. Soon a ruined castle will echo to the baying of initiates as Susan is led towards an altar - there to be ritually violated by the Priest of Satan.
What a blurb! Whoever wrote that deserves a medal. Talk about Black Sorcery, Spicy, Dreadful!
Although billed as a Black Magic story this is also a Roger Brook yarn, so whats the betting that there's 445 pages of swashbucking, and 1 of 'good stuff'. Seeing as this was the next (forgive me) BM after the gastronomic excesses of Gateway To Hell, I hope DW has toned down the gratuitous foodie scenes.

here's a shot of the very comely cover illustration, franklin. my copy seems to have waited here unread for aeon's - i've no idea why. i think that haunting of toby jugg you gave me may reignite my love-hate affair with dashing dennis and not before time (i'll scan the cover into your review)!
