Daniel P. Mannix - Those About To Die (Mayflower 1972, originally Panther 1960)Picked this one up today, at a boot sale for 20p. According to the inside cover blurb: "The full story of the Roman games. Two Armies of 5000 men fought to the death. The show was lit by human torches. The Emperor Marcus spent nearly a million pounds a year on Gladiators. The costliest, cruellest spectacle of all time." Well it had to be investigated, more when I've read a bit. I've not found anything on a search of vault, so I'm assuming this one hasn't been covered yet.

There's something about it somewhere on the old board, HP.

Thanks Dr.T, I'd forgotten about the old board for a moment there. First Mannix book I've found, so I'm interested in others' views.

I only have a view on that cover. It's a doozy!
As you stated, "Well it had to be investigated".
Indeed.
