In 1964, there was a short-lived television series starring the legendary Julie Newmar, My Living Doll. She was an android, not a robot, however. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmYoVhH5-FUH.

There is a number of Lady Robots in Robert Aickman. Please describe them, or link to your reviews of the stories with them in. Here’s one I recall to be going on with: THE SCHOOL FRIEND by Robert Aickman. My review: dflewisreviews.wordpress.com/2021/08/09/the-undying-aickman/ - and please see Elizabeth Stack’s tweet that I reproduce at the end of my review in its comment stream. It was she who brought to my attention that it was all about an android or lady robot! I am sure there are a few other Aickman stories where the true interpretation is of a lady robot. Perhaps the Aickman experts here should opine on this as a sort of quiz before I sift through all my reviews again.

Brilliant! That is the first potential Aickman Lady Robot I would think of after The School Friend.

"The Lady Automaton" by E.E. Kellett ( Pearson's Magazine, June 1901). Read it here - www.forgottenfutures.com/game/ff9/aut.htmAlso, Ira Levin's The Stepford Wives (1972). Kellett seems to have been quite keen on automatons - he also wrote "The New Frankenstein" ( Pearson's, May 1899) and "How I Won the Derby: A Romance of an Automaton" ( Pearson's, June 1901), with the latter having a mechanical horse winning the race. This is him: And this is his only collection of short stories, published by Jarrold & Sons (London) in 1900:

This is him: I am pretty sure that is actually Michael Palin, from an old Monty Python episode.

I still haven't read any Aickman. Please list a few stories that are best for an introduction. A horror collection on my ebook site has his The Marriage in it. Is that worth trying?

You can read Weirdmonger's reviews of Aickman's stories on his site. His reviews are often as intriguing, elliptical and gnomic as the tales themselves.
