I decided to try one more poll. This one everyone can take part in. So no slacking! Not only can everyone vote, but they get up to five choices each. So you can vote for multiple answers. How good is that! Vote wisely! It's a long poll. Finishes Monday 1:00 PM Lots of time to vote! I even took shrink proofs advice and added one for those having trouble deciding.

Princess, I think you should have included choices for your wise and benevolent leadership of Grand Fenwick, your cutting-edge sense of fashion as a trend-setter, your (literal) support for impoverished princes by allowing them to climb up your hair, and your record-breaking time in the 110m hurdles race while wearing a tiara, eating caviar and sipping champagne, surely Grand Fenwick's proudest sporting moment, with the possible exception of your nation's demolition of the 1970 Brazil team 15-0, how proud you must have been of the Grand Fenwick girls under 12's B team that day--it was your unrivaled knowledge of the tactics of soccar that did it, of course, and you even cut the oranges at half-time while comforting a tearful Pele.

Pele was Brazil's Archie Gemmel, for those who don't know who he is. Only he never scored a goal as good as Archie's wondergoal. As it was the best goal in human history. Almost forgot:

Princess Dear,
You wrote Pele was Brazil's Archie Gemmel--I officially know zilch about team sports of any kind but THAT made me laugh. I hope there were no Brazilians, or Americans, reading that thread. Haha!
I know the good Sisters at the Convent were severe disciplinarians and Sister Sophrosyne in particular was noted for her vicious birching technique. But none of it seems to have done a speck of good. Keep up the excellent work, my lass!
cheers, Hel

Keep up the excellent work, my lass! cheers, Hel After talking about his wonder goal for ages, I ACTUALLY decided to watch it. And it is rather spectacular. But he was Britain's second best player ever, after all, and that means the world, obviously. I'm having tablet problems with battery. And phone won't let me paste link to Archie Gemmel goal. Not near computer. So I'll leave this as it is.

I will frankly admit I wouldn't know a "wonder goal" if I fell over it. So there's that.

Although this poll had a pleasant outcome, I'm disappointed with the turnout, as I was certain the subject matter was a winner. Obviously I shall now take this personally and leave this site in a huff! However I can't think of any forum to go to. Please recommend a forum for me that I can grace with my presence. Preferably a one that won't kick me off for talking too much. Thank you, and au revoir as we say in the Left Bank in Paris where, in this Belle Epoque, I currently reside as an artist model and muse to sickly and starving poets! Farewell! Edited to say that some people might complain and say as a princess with access to unlimited funds accumulated by generations of wicked ancestors I should supply these poets with incomes. But what would be the point of that? How can they be poets if they aren't sickly and starving? One must think of art! Anyway, as I was saying: Until we meet again on some distant shore to the lilting tones of Beowulf Au Revoir! Princess Anastasia Tuvstarr

I love your joshing, Princess, and trust you're not actually going to leave us bereft of your presence.

Anyway, as I was saying: Until we meet again on some distant shore to the lilting tones of Beowulf Au Revoir! Princess Anastasia Tuvstarr "I finished the poem Princess Anastasia, can I eat now?" "Ugh!" Thud. The final two lines of the poet's last sonnet (his 417th) to the princess were found clutched in his once sickly and starving hand. They read: Oh Princess! you are not just terrific You are also truly splenderific!

Au reservoir, my Dear.
You're most likely already a dot on the horizon but I can't avoid commenting that your fencing uniform shows that admirable juxtaposition of brusque practicality and feminine elegance I have come to see as eminently characteristic of your modus vivendi.
I'll save a scone, a dish of lemon curd and a measure of clotted cream for you next time the summons to Tea is heard.

I haven't quite gone yet, as I thought if some more clever things to say after I said I was going. And I want to see who wins in the fight between Swan and jojo. I hope they fight in a pit like Jon Pertwee did in a Doctor Who episode. I'll watch from above and weep over these brave men. Fighting to the death.
