The House of the Brandersons by Raymond Rudorff (New York: Arbor House, 1973)
Here we have grabbed a largely forgotten bestseller from 1973. A book about Satanism, occultism, ghosts. About murder, an eating evil wizard and something cruel beyond the depths of the universe. Hell ya - 70s horror is and will be a great thing! You take Lovecraft's The Case of Charles Dexter Ward (1927/43) and stir it up with inspiration from Levin's Rosemary's Baby (1967), Blatty's The Exorcist (1971) and a bit of a classic haunted house atmosphere as well as a solid sprinkle of "black magic story" by Dennis Wheatley. Voila, then you have The House of the Brandersons.
