David A. Riley [ed.] - Swords & Sorceries: Tales of Heroic Fantasy Vol II (Parallel Universe, June, 2021) David A. Riley - Introduction Mike Chinn - The Essence of Dust Tais Teng - Highjacking the Lord of Light Martin Owton - Out in the Wildlands Susan Murrie Macdonald - Zale and Zedril Steve Dilks - The Amulet and the Shadow Andrew Darlington - Antediluvia: Seasons of the World Pedro Iniguez - A Thousand Words for Death Dev Agarwal - Stone Snake Phil Emery - Seven Thrones Adrian Cole - The Eater of Gods Many thanks to Mr Riley for so kindly forwarding a copy of Swords & Sorceries vol 2. Feel a bit of a fraud to receive this, as it's completely undeserved; I like REH well enough, but otherwise the genre is a blind spot. That said, I've enjoyed non-S&S stories by Messrs Cole, Chinn and Darlington, so will give it a go over coming weeks. The Jim Pitts illos on pages eight and the dedication are particularly attractive. Thanks, David!

As I have just mentioned in an interview I have done with Trevor Kennedy for the next issue of Phantasmagoria magazine, it was you telling me at Charles Black's funeral that Charles had intended to do a series like this till ill health and his eventual death came in the way that inspired me to do it. Hence the dedication to Charles in the book. I dare say his vision would have been a bit different to how Swords & Sorceries has turned out, but I have given it the best I can in his place and hope he would have liked it.

Can't believe it's been over two years. I'm sure Charlie would have been delighted to see the two books come to fruition. He was really keen, wanted to do something completely separate from the Black Books. Think he'd dreamt up a serial character, Lukeon the Atlantean (?), some years before, completed a few adventures and was considering likely BB authors to approach when he fell seriously ill again. Such a bloody shame.
