Currently I am re-listening to Cornwell's Sharpe series and started at the chronological No.1, the beginning of the India trilogy. It kindled my interest in the history of the East India Company.
Can anyone recommend a readable (and affordable) history of the Company? Dalrymple: The Anarchy seems to be interesting and new, but some reviewer complained that the book ends with 1803, which would be a shame. Naturally this is the epoch I am most interested in, as it seems to be the most featured material for everything from Collins to Doyle. And of course Cornwell.

Hi, I can recommend: "The Honourable Company: A History of the English East India Company" by John Keay. Covers the company’s history – 1600 – 1820; a lively and interesting account.
