Can someone help me identify a black and white European film from the 1940's, possibly '50s (or late '30s even?). I saw it at a film festival when young, but have not been able to retrace it since then. It is not a fantasy film, but one poetic moment a unicorn briefly appears from behind a hillock. I think it may be a French, Spanish, or possibly Italian film. For a while I thought it was by Jean Renoir, but having checked his films, I think not.
Or if it doesn't ring a bell, do you know of some Internet forum for old films, where they might know?

But I believe in literature the earliest author to make mention of the Unicorn was Ctesias (400 BC). The medieval notions surrounding the Unicorn suggest it could be caught by ‘placing a young virgin in his haunts’ - this according to Le Bestiaire Divin de Guillaume, Clerc de Normandie (13th century). But I wish you luck in your continuing quest.
