"On Skua Island" by John Langan would fit as well here as it did in the 'Norse Terrors' thread.

That was a great film incidentally, the original anyway. Haven't seen the remake. I used to love the songs from that film.

WHY would anyone make a remake of such a great film? To cash in, no doubt. When there are so many unsung stories they could make movies of instead.

Proboards just deleted a somewhat lengthy post about Paul Giovanni I wrote. That's very unlike them. Did they give you an explanation? It's not happened often, but when they've asked me to remove something, they've given 24 hour notice.

Hey Dem, it was purely a technical glitch. The site claimed I was logged in when I wrote the post, and then when I clicked on the "post" button it said I wasn't logged in. I think it happened to me once before. When this happens, it goes immediately to a blank screen that says "you don't have permission to post on this thread," or something like that, and if you use the back button, the text you had composed is gone.
I was looking for this interesting account of the sessions for recording the film music, and a related article about Paul and his partner, who was some well known producer--they lived in New York--as a gay power couple of the 1970s-80s. I couldn't find the links and the inadvertently deleted post was just some bits of natter about that.
cheers, Hel

She sings in a perfect pitch between inactive innocence and passion. I can hardly imagine a more arousing female voice. One of the most beautiful and life-affirming songs I have ever heard ...
Here is a slightly different version:

You have my sympathies. I'm sure many of us will have lost stuff that way. Maybe the best way around it, for longer posts at least, is to first type them in Wordpad or equivalent, so you've a back up copy if things go gaga.
